The Microsoft LifeCam VX-7000 model is a high-end desktop webcam designed specifically for casual and in-home use. The VX-6000 supports high resolution 640 x 480 pixel videos (higher resolutions also supported) at 30 frames per second, and takes high resolution 8 megapixel still photos as well.

The VX-7000 includes a 71 degree wide angle, glass element lens that has a 5x digital zoom. The VX-7000 also boasts several quick access features such as one touch blogging through Windows Live Spaces, a Windows Live call button and a special photo swap function which allows quick access to an internet video call. For audio the webcam includes a built-in, noise-cancelling, microphone which Microsoft claims will deliver "crystal-clear sound" through an automatic audio control.

The VX-7000 webcam also includes additional features such as a universal attachment base meaning its able to snap to any computer monitor, a flexible 6 foot cable that provides more room to move, a high resolution 2.0 megapixel video sensor to provide higher quality video support, special video effects built into the LifeCam dashboard, a Microsoft 3 year limited warranty, and broad IM compatibility (Works with: Windows Live, AOL Instant Messenger, Yahoo! Messenger, Microsoft Office Communicator, and Skype).
