The Microsoft LifeCam HD-5000 is a mid-range 720p webcam. It utilizes Microsoft TrueColor technology, which aims to produce a clearer image and more vivid color via more precise exposure controls. The webcam records 720p (widescreen) video at 30 fps, and features auto-focus.

Compatible with Windows XP, Vista, and 7, the HD-5000 is optimized for use with Windows Live Messenger, but can be used with a variety of VoIP and other software. The HD-5000 is virtually identical to the HD-5001, but the latter is available only at Best Buy, and features a different face design.
